The Law Enforcement Business.

Just finished reading a book called, “How to Arrest Proof Yourself”.  The author has been a cop, FBI Special Agent, and now works as a defense attorney.  He explains how the criminal justice system is set up keep poor, uneducated people in jails and how the law enforcement system makes money off of this.  I mean think about it, Lindsey Lohan should still in in the LA County lock up, except that it was costing LA more money to lock her up, than would have been brought in if she couldn’t afford a high priced defense attorney, and if she didn’t have her every move scrutinized by the public and news media.    The police make money by keeping the underclass locked up, because they generally can’t fight back.  The entire criminal justice system is very predatory in nature.

Most of the people who get locked up are unable to effectively defend themselves and they engage in behavior that puts them on the radar of Law Enforcement.  Want to know why the black crack dealer in Compton has a much better chance of getting arrested than the Beverly Hills coke dealer?  Because the guy in Compton is out on the sidewalk, selling to whoever pulls up along the curb, while the fellow in Beverly Hills only takes customers that he knows or has had reccomended to him and this is done behind closed doors.  The police go after the lower hanging fruit, they are only wanting to put forth enough energy to get the arrest that they have to, plus the guy in Beverly Hills, probably has a lawyer and money hidden away to jump bail.

This kind of attitude, has caused a lot of cops to adopt the persona of them being superior to the average citizen, not all, but a hell of a lot.  It has gotten so that they can confiscate your property and imprison you just by arresting you.  Remember the Bill of Rights, where it says you can’t be deprived of life, property, or imprisoned without due process, well the laws enacted for drug enforcement circumvent the constitution and there is nothing you can do about it, except stay off law enforcements radar.  The FBI just raided the homes of war protestors  on the pretext that they are engaging in terrorist activities.  The First amendment should give these people the right to protest, whether you agree with them or not.

I own guns, a lot of guns, and a lot of ammo.  However, just because of this, and despite the fact that I bought all of my firearms legally, if the federal government wanted to, they could put me on the Deptartment of Homeland Security’s no fly list.  This would pop up anytime I tried to buy a gun and would cause me to not be able to purchase that firearm.  What happened to due process?  The federal government has done away with it.  Just because I happen to be conservative, firearm friendly, and don’t like the government poking it’s nose in my business without just cause, I could end up being arrested, and thrown in jail for as long as Obambi wants, because I don’t fit his profile of what he thinks is acceptable.

And it could be worse:  Don Scott was shot and killed by police in Malibu, California.  The police wanted the land he owned for a new police training site.  He had refused to sell at the ridiculously low price they offered and so, they got a warrant to search for marijuana on his land.  They didn’t find it, but kicked in his door, put a gun to his wife’s head and when he heard her scream, he came out with a gun.  The police ordered him to put his weapon down, and when he did, they shot him.  The DA attorney determined that the raid was done in part to confiscate Mr. Scott’s property.  The police did confiscate his property and even though no weed was found, they never gave it back.  Mr. Scott was killed outright by LA county sherrifs, DEA agents, and other police.  No charges were filed.

Fuck the police.

No, I don't live in Texas, but I used to live there. I am crude, don't believe in being unnecessarily urbanized and my opinions tend to upset most "civilized" folks... and I don't give a shit.
